Powerless animation writing

                        Powerless

Foe this piece of writing we used the video Powerless .The animation is about an inventor that has failed at his invention, a robot .For my piece of writing I chose to be the inventor.
We had describe the surroundings, the robot, the inventor and the fairy's .I had to use level 3 language feature's like, 

1. Use a very short sentence.
2. Start your sentence with an AAWWUBBIS (Opener sentence)
3. Ly start – Start a sentence with a ly adverb.
4. Em – dash. A dash is used to set off information in a sentence with dramatic flair.

The subject sentence. Start your sentence with the subject. (Interrupter)

Powerless

As I was sleeping out failure for the day, the sound of door creaking awakened me .There was nothing but an empty old cottage, broken down and forgotten .As an owl led outside me, well the parts that were left of me, I needed light fast. The ground was dry and felt like there had been no rain in a long time. I came to a big open space with nothing but a log.

There was more than a log, there it was my failed invention- the first ever curry maker 2000.

As I was walking towards the log, the miniature figure the more bright and colourful brownish Orange fairy got .A magical, helpful, caring and lovely person .I got closer and saw that my invention was helping the fairy .She was stuck, but why would my invention be helping her?

A funny odd thing.

I helped, but it didn't help anything or anyone.

He was expired.

Voki pizza

In class lately we have been working on food research .We visited Pipi pizza in Havelock North, we got the idea of using the concept to make our own pizza for food inquiry . I have chosen to create a Moroccan spiced lamb .We chose to do a voki to advertise our pizza. We also had write a pizza persuasive for advertisement, we had to use bossy verbs, value, limited time only, deals and rhetorical questions.

For the past few weeks we have been working on our Zentangle art. Zentangle  is a type of art which is based on patterns made in one stroke. In class we chose to do an animal, I have used an elephant outline. Inside we would have to break it into parts to make it into zentangle. There is different patterns like mist, crescent moon, static which is stairs kind of and tipple and heaps more, you can also create your own pattern if your really good at the pattern stuff. You can try to make it into any sort of shape.

Geometric shapes, I have created one that has a point every 20 degrees. Mine is a 30 pointer.  I can see in mine a lot of lines, there is 29 different diagonal lines coming of of one point. I have used a protractor to get my 20 degrees , I have used my ruler to find the  middle and do all the lines.

A easy way to find the  middle is fold the piece of paper one time both ways. My circle is 360 degrees all the way around which makes  it 180 halfway.

Strawberry inqiury

For my strawberry inquiry I have created a video talking about strawberries that I have done with a few of my other classmates. I have also made info graphic on piktochart which is a site that you can use to create things for work like a banner, presentation which has more slides or a  info graphic. I've used this site before and it worked great so I decided to do it again but I have used a presentation this time round.

I have also created two clay strawberries that are blue. I had blue clay at my house so I had to use that because  I had other things to finish like my info graphic and video. I didn't spend to much time on it and it wasn't too hard.

This  is my garden that I created for our Inquiry about plants and soil.We had to use Maths , Reading and writing. in my garden I have lettuce, carrots, cauliflower, basil and thyme . I put information like the plant space, row space sow depth and when it is ready to  be eaten. My class and I got our information from the Yates website where you can get information about plants, vegetables, herbs, and fruit .

Photosynthesis

In our Inquiry learning our new subject is plants and different types of soil. Yesterday we read a story about a photosynthesis that was created about a plant and all the different parts and nutrients, sunlight, carbon dioxide and water.The roots suck the water from the soil and goes through the roots up the stem and to the leaves.Oxygen is produced by the plant and goes out little holes in the leaf. Nutrients substances such as vitamins and minerals animals and plants need to grow . Sunlight keeps the plant warm and the plant produces oxygen.

                                       For my Anzac model I chose to create no man's land .
     You can see in my model that I have used chicken fencing as the barbed wire , dirt for the dirt ,  and the trenches with  the men in them trying to shoot the Germans . I got the idea from  a classmate and thought it was a good idea  . I like to create things so I got stuck in . First I started to look for a good sized box It took a while . I kept changing my box because it wasn't the right size. I first put in a rubbish bin bag and started the dirty work dirt and moss. After that I twirled chicken fence and put on the dirt ,then started building trenches , I couldn't find any army men so we went and brought some not ten or twenty 196 army men
 [thats  alot]. Finally  finished time for sharing to the class.

                           This picture was taken in Auckland  and won  Auckland photo competition.
                              We used this photo  because it could bring a lot of ideas to our writing.
          We used complex sentence's , opener sentence's , place a comma in the write place and use short             sharp sentences. I made mine a sad story because he brakes two ribs and a dislocates a  shoulder. We          had to feel like  we were the character I brainstormed my feelings , thoughts and monologue .

             

 The jump

I’m walking across the old rustic wharf with my friends , I feel there eyes burning  on my back

as I climb on  the fence. I take of my shoes and see the bottom of the water .   I had a beautiful city as a backdrop the sky tower nearly reaching the sky and going through the clouds. I realized when I was on that fence that this is  high !!

I hesitate, mumble  then jump up. Go down as fast as a rocket , I get shocked.

That was the moment that I swam  up from the bottom of the water and felt  the coldness. As I put my head up from the water, I saw the dark ,sad sky.

I climb the ladder up to the wharf ,my ribs are hurting real bad. Next thing I know I’m in the car going to the emergency centre. I see people that look a lot worse than myself some with cuts down there legs  and black eyes.

I see my friends talking to the doctor and saying that we  were just playing truth or dare and we dared him to jump of the wharf.

Well whatever you were doing it was going to have consequences to it . Anyway your friend is good to go he’s got two broken ribs and a dislocated shoulder .

A few minutes later.

`Okay let's go  home and get you to rest.

  In class lately my class and I have been working on a poem called foul shot by Edwin A. Hoey.
   We looked at his writing and saw all the techniques that he used in his writing . We made our own piece  ,
 We chose a sporting moment that took 10 seconds long . I picked Football the last penalty shot 4 all .

                                       Taking the shot

Extra time has been given

It’s  not enough

Penalty shootout

Tied up 4 all

I’ve got the shot

I'm nervous but I have no time

Teammates  cheering

Take the ball

Put it on the spot

The ball is slippery ,  wet

  Take 7 steps back

  Eye on the ball

Lean

Wobble

Concentrate

Focus

Hesitate

Can’t wait no longer

The whistle goes

Writing to the Unknown soldier

As part of our ANZAC inquiry we wrote to the Unknown soldier . In my letter we used complex sentences, short sharp sentences . We had to show different techniques` .

                                  This below is my letter to the unknown soldier

To the unknown soldier

I want you to know that we, Havelock North Community, remembered

you last week on the  25th of April Saturday. I feel warm ,

cozy and  safe far away from the fighting .

When I think of war I think of the people

especially the young boys that died and fighted for our country.

They thought it was going to be an adventure but they thought wrong.

How did you feel when you put on your green uniform for the first time?  Did you feel proud? In class lately  we have been seeing what the uniforms look like . I want you to know that you are not forgotten.  Your bravery has let us live a happy, free life .

I’m sitting in my classroom with my friends chatting happily and knowing that there is no war (except isis. We are safe.  I know that you were sitting in the trenches and feeling the blood dripping down your body with the frightening sound of the machine guns firing at you, your fellow fighters and friends.

If you weren’t in the army,  you would probably be at home working on the farm looking after  the animals. How did you feel when you got given a gun and told to start killing, frustrated . Were you a volunteer or were you told to go to war? What did you feel inside you when you left your home for the last time? I cannot imagine what it felt like. Were you sad? Did you cry? I know I would

Although you may  have not returned,  you have not been forgotten. As we look down to you , we do not feel afraid,or scared . I feel  privileged   to be living in this  country

New Zealand. I’m only 11 but already I know so much about history , and the War.

When the war ended was it weird to finally not hear the machine guns firing at your trenches  and the bombs getting throwed in the middle of no man’s land?

This is not a letter it is a story of appreciation.

Anzac Inquiry Anzac biscuits

This below is my ANZAC biscuit post.

The war started with the people in parliament. Countries were fighting about land and they got so angry that they brang  thier Military's to fight . And did you know that the soldiers were actually really nice to each-other.

The wives of the soldiers would sent ANZAC biscuits as a gift and to remember them by, they sent Anzac biscuits because the ingredients do not spoil easily. The biscuits are popular in Australia and New Zealand

                                            Here is a recipe for making
                                                Anzac biscuits below!
                                                  Recipe

                 
Rolled oats , flour , coconut, sugar, butter , golden syrup , and boiling water.

Step 1 : Heat the oven to 160 degrees and line two baking trays with baking paper in it , sift the flour into a bowl with the rolled oats, coconut and the brown sugar.

step 2 : Put the butter and golden syrup in a sauce pan and ad two teaspoons of  water . Stir the mixture until melted.

Step 3:  Now put the melted butter in the flour , then stir the two until combined.

Step 4: Now roll them into little  balls and place them on the baking trays then get a fork  and push the fork on top of the little balls .
Put them in the oven for 10 to 15 minutes and when there finished,  put them aside for 5 minutes to cool down.

For Reading the past few weeks we have been working on river testing which we did at camp. So we made our own river infographic and added information to it.  This is mine . I made a good and  a bad side. On the good side I put all my good information like if the water is under 15 degrees it is good water and not too much  Algae . The bad side by  the way has all the bad things about the river like , way too much algae and no shade for the fish to hide in.
